Bookay-ukay in Maginhawa, unlike major book warehouse sales, is a cramped space of stacked and shelved 'book finds'. But unlike those grand book sales, Bookay-ukay is a staple book thrift shop, one that bibliophiles need not gear up for, travel long and hard for, mark on the calendars for... a constant. (HAHA!)
It was in their new location in Maginhawa that I was able to score an Oscar Wilde classic for less than a hundred pesos. :) From #55, the shop is now at #78 Maginhawa St. Teachers Village. They are open until 11 PM so this can occupy weary minds and restless spirits. Of course, if you are looking for mainstream pop culture books, it's time you head on out the door.

After thrifting, my sister Tricia and I had a stroll along the street to see which establishment can still welcome us for our late night cupcake snack. It was pas 10 in the evening so most shops were at a close. The lights from this unassuming bake shop by name of Dorissimo Pastries however was welcoming us with open arms.
The shop has a selection of ice cream sandwiches and sundaes for less than 50php. Anything cold and strawberry flavored I would choose in a jiffy. This particular one had bits of real' berries in it.
My sister chose the classic RVC (Red Velvet Cupcake). It was not too sweet or too oily. Dorissimo actually use coconut sugar for most of their pastries, which is a much healthier alternative.
They have a variety of cupcakes, cakes, ice creams, and packed sweet treats to choose from.
