Philippines Ice Bucket Challenge #StrikeOutALS

The Philippines has been tagged by Qatar to do the Ice Bucket Challenge. In case any of you are still not in the know, which I highly doubt, the Ice Bucket Challenge is a marketing move to raise awareness, and hopefully monetary support, for ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

A progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed. -ALSA.ORG

The movement became such a success for raising awareness and research funds. From July to August of this year- just a span of 1 month, ALS received a total of $98.2 million cash donations, which is a big increase from last year's $2.7 million.

Now the Philippines as a country will take on the Challenge of Qatar and aim to increase funds and awareness as we hold a nationwide Ice Bucket Challenge!
