This year, nominees for the Academy Award were a mix of mainstream and indie. Veteran stars and newcomers had a neck to neck battle but what and who emerged as winners though weren't based on that, instead were really deserving of the trophies as they showed mastery of the skills and true meaning of film making and acting.
