Patriotism is a devotion to one's homeland, excluding differences caused by the dependencies of the term's meaning upon context, geography and philosophy. In a generalized sense applicable to all countries and peoples, patriotism is a devotion to one's country.
Philippine Heroes are very much the definiton of the word for these exemplary individuals did not only live for themselves but dedicated so much of their lives for the people and the nation. Grand were the gestures of these people to save and uphold the country. The world is different now as modernization took place, United Nations was formed, peace treaty and diplomatic relations are present. But a few rising number of patriots silently live heroically, readily taking on tasks for the betterment of this small but magical place, ready to serve whether as big a gesture as crossing a flooded street under pouring rain to deliver goods and supplies to the people needing it most or as simple- yet could result to a widespread ripple of goodness- as teaching street kids basic education with just a cardboard and a marker.
Jose Rizal, did so well showing his love for the Philippines without needing to use violence as a weapon and instead opted to use literature- the power of words. And he sent his message to the oppressed, the revolutionary, the hopeless, the young... loud and clear!
